Last Minute Christmas Gift Giving

Time's running out. It is probably too late to make it in time for Christmas if you order gifts online now. Or is it?

You can still make it in time if you choose a faster shipping method like 2 day shipping or next day shipping depending on how much time you have left. That'll means spending more on shipping, but it is worth it if you hate jostling with crowds at the mall and buy all your stuff from one store and have your items delivered to your home, office or where you'd be for Christmas.

Alternatively, you could make your own Christmas gifts. I did that when I was desperate. A glass bowl, sand, pebbles, florist foam and dried flowers can turned into an indoor garden that never withers. It would make a great gift for anyone other than the children. Back to the home made gift. Take a clean, dry glass bowl. The prettiest you can find. Glue florist foam meant for dried flower arrangements to the inside of the base of the bowl. Pour sand over the foam to cover it completely.

Stick the dried flowers through the sand, into the foam, grouping them according to color, leaving space between groups of flowers for the pebbles. Think about a real garden. Flower beds are separated by footpaths or grass. You can dye sand green and use that to simulate grass and use pebbles to create the footpaths..

Make your garden in a bowl look like an actual garden. Flowers grouped together, pebble trails, the works. You could put a larger rock to simulate a boulder. The larger the bowl the more area you have to play around with.

You could even put a mirror to simulate a lake. Use pebbles to cover the sand. That's it. How good it looks depends on your skill. If you don't like your first attempt, you can always try again until you like the final result.
